Stadium Review: A Game Day Experience with Some Disappointments
When attending a game, the action on the field is what matters most, but the stadium experience can either elevate or diminish the overall enjoyment. Recently, I had the chance to catch a thrilling game, and while the action on the field was excellent, the stadium itself left much to be desired. Here’s a look at my experience, both the highs and lows.
The Game on the Field: A High-Energy Showdown
Let’s start with the positive—what brought us all to the stadium in the first place: the game. On the field, it was everything you could hope for in a live sporting event. The teams were locked in a competitive battle, with heart-stopping plays, intense moments, and a back-and-forth that kept us all on the edge of our seats. The energy from the players was palpable, and even with only around 50 spectators in attendance, you could feel the passion. For those of us who love football, this was the highlight.
But unfortunately, the rest of the experience didn’t quite match the excitement of the game itself.
The VIP Section: Not Quite What You’d Expect
We had seats in the VIP section, and based on the name, you’d expect a premium experience, right? Well, think again. If you’re envisioning plush seats, easy access, and first-class amenities, this isn’t the place.
Getting to the VIP section was an adventure in itself, and not in a good way. The journey starts with having to walk all the way around to the opposite side of the stadium to enter on the home side—odd, but fine, right? Once you’re inside, though, you’re faced with four or five flights of stairs. And did I mention that they aren’t well-lit? Yeah, prepare yourself for a mini workout in the dark just to reach the supposed “luxury” section.
Once you finally make it to your VIP seats, the disappointment continues. The seats are just basic, hard plastic chairs. Not the kind of comfort you expect when you’re paying extra for a premium experience. After settling in, it quickly became clear that the game would have to keep me distracted from the discomfort of the seating arrangement.
Stadium Condition: A Venue Past Its Prime
The state of the stadium was another letdown. It felt like stepping into a venue that’s seen better days, and not by a small margin. The stadium felt like it was in disrepair, with numerous closed concession stands and poor lighting throughout the concourse areas. It had an almost eerie vibe as you walked around, with sections that felt abandoned or forgotten.
With only about 50 people in the stands, the atmosphere was sparse, but this also seemed to amplify the glaring issues with the facility. I couldn’t help but wonder if there are plans to build a new stadium soon, because this one seems to be barely hanging on. It’s the kind of place where you can see potential, but the lack of upkeep really takes away from the overall experience.
Beer: A Rare Bright Spot
One surprising positive was the beer. At 100 pesos for two beers in one cup, this was one of the best values I’ve seen in a stadium—comparable to deals you might find at baseball games. The cold drinks were a small consolation amidst the otherwise frustrating setup. So, if nothing else, at least you can enjoy the game with a reasonably priced beverage in hand.
Final Thoughts: A Great Game Overshadowed by a Lacking Venue
All in all, the game itself was fantastic, and if that’s all you care about, then this stadium will do the job. However, if you’re looking for a complete game day experience—comfort, accessibility, a lively atmosphere—this place misses the mark. The VIP section was anything but special, the stadium feels like it’s falling apart, and the overall ambiance just wasn’t there.
It’s clear that the focus here is on the game, and if that’s what you’re after, you’ll enjoy yourself. But if you’re hoping for a top-tier stadium experience, you’ll be left wanting more. Here’s hoping that this venue sees some much-needed improvements, or perhaps a brand-new stadium altogether, to match the excitement happening on the field.
